Dear Best Friend,

We've been through so much together, and I never knew I could become this close with someone. I always thought that guys and girls being best friends and caring for each other so much was a thing of fiction. I mean, imagine this: a girl is scared of a thunderstorm, and when the guy sings, it calms her down. A girl gets hurt by a guy and the guy helps her cope, and helps her through her problems. The guy makes her feel special, and worthwhile. She can never stay mad at him, and it hurts her to see him upset. She worries so much when he doesn't respond to her messages after a fight, and the moment he hears that she's crying, he rings her up to make sure she's alright.


This is the type of stuff you'd see in movies. Seemingly impossible, and so full of fantasy. Yet, despite the fantasy, that is what I have with you. You, Montiee, are always there, no matter what. Through thick and thin, with every sharp turn and twisting roads, you have done so much for me. Montiee, there's nothing that could ever happen that would keep me from being your best friend. Even if you're mad at me, I'll still be there, silently protecting you and pleading forgiveness. You are someone that I never want to forget, and I don't think it's possible to forget you, considering how much you've influenced me. I just hope that this lasts forever, and if there's an afterlife, for it to last during that as well. I never ever want to lose you. You're literally my everything, and I don't know what I'd do without you.


Thank you for lifting me up when I was down in the dumps. Thank you for helping me sleep at night. Thank you for always listening to me, even when I was being an idiot. Thank you for putting up with my tears and drama. Thank you for holding me when I needed to be held. Thank you for being there, and most of all, thank you for being my best friend. You mean so much to me, it's insane. I don't really know what love is, I don't think I ever really did, but I think that if anything, that's the best word to describe how I feel for you, because you are such an amazing person. Thank you so much.

Now... here's a small poem, just for you.

Through the highs and the lows,
When I wasn't sure what to feel,
And when I was ready to deal death blows.

You're the first person who has made me feel important,
Like I'm worth something.
Others make me feel forgotten,
Like a speck of nothing.

Best friend,
When I'm scared or lonely,
I put your songs on repeat.
After that, I get cozy,
And I drift off to sleep.
