The Apocalypse Begins

Sneak Peak:
She stared into his eyes, as her eye twitched again and she licked her lips. Zach quickly grabbed a BB gun out of his backpack with his free arm, shooting her in the leg. She gave out a loud screech, letting her grip loosen, her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

“And the apocalypse begins,” Roi murmured, getting up and searching through Ms. Olive’s desk. Finding nothing, he looked towards the carving machine in the back of the room. With glass that thick, no way… C’mon Roi… think! His vision panned over the panicking students, the random books scattered all over. He stopped, and grinned. Perfect.

Hey there stalkers!

So I know I haven't been posting as much, but that will soon be remedied. I've been working on a really long story, and as you can guess, it's called "The Apocalypse Begins". It's about zombies, so obviously it's interesting... unless that's not your thing... then you'd better move on. I've also taken a break from my other stories, because I've found that I write better with a focus. Also, I'll post the chapters in slow updates, so if you want to read it all at once... too bad.

Also, here's to 2014 guys! Cheers to all of you!

Chapter 1: The Start of Everything

ISM – Math Classroom, October 26, 2:47 PM

“Look at page one hundred and forty-two,” the teacher, Ms. Olive, droned, “and look at section B.” Dana looked around the classroom, seeing her peers chew gum, pass notes, and some even throwing things around. This class is hopeless… She spotted Ryan and Dias chatting in the back, their textbooks not even out on the table. Yet, I want to have fun too… She sighed, flipping her textbook to the page assigned. “Do numbers one to sixteen.” The class groaned, but she was unfazed, and took a couple awkward steps towards her desk, her left foot dead.
Dana felt a tap on her shoulder, and she peered behind her, at Andrew. “What?” she whispered. He gestured to the note in his hand, then over to Marcus, sitting in front of them. “Oh, okay.”
“Read it, and join in if you want, goody two-shoes,” he smirked.
“Oh shut up, of course I’ll join. Dumbass,” She snatched the crumpled piece of paper from his loose grip and opened it up, emphasizing that she indeed was going to read it.
Don’t you think you’re going to get in trouble, goody two-shoes?
“What the hell, Andrew…” She growled, throwing the paper behind her and focused on her work once again. That was, until she felt a second tap. “What now?” she whispered angrily, but the note fell into her lap before she could finish.
Okay, sorry about that… you have to admit, it was pretty funny. :P
Yeah, yeah, whatever…
She quickly passed it back to him, looking to see if the teacher had noticed. “Hurry up, dude…”
So, you’re actually doing the work?
Yup. Unlike you, I actually study.
And unlike you, I don’t need to study… and still get better grades. ;)
Shut up…
He returned the paper without writing anything, smirking. Rolling her eyes, Dana passed the note onto Marcus, who was practically asleep. “Wha-?” He saw the note, eyed her, and took it hesitantly. “Is this from Andrew?” She nodded. “F*cktard…” he cursed, reading it over, grinning. “Can I..?” He looked to her, holding up a blue pen. She gave him a thumbs up, and he scribbled onto the paper.
Hey guys, did you know Ms. Olive was bitten by a kid today, during lunch?
Seriously? LOL
Haha, must’ve really hated her classes. :P
IKR. :P
Haha, Andrew… Anyway, yeah. They say he had rabies or something, so she might have to get examined. (Scary.)
Oh shit. What if she becomes some crazy psycho zombie lady, wanting to attack her students? :P
Yeah, she’s already attacking her students… with homework!
Yeah, haha. I’m dying from her homework…
Wow, teacher’s pet dying from homework? This is unheard of!
Shut up! -.-
LOL
Ms. Olive stood up, supporting herself with the table that sat in front of her. “You’re dismissed. Anything you didn’t finish today is due next class.” Andrew, being how he was, already had everything packed up and was almost out the door.
“Hurry up, slow poke!” He shouted across the room to Roi, who was still packing his things. “I’m always the one waiting on you guys, I swear…”
“Hold on, I’m almost done,” Roi replied gruffly, stuffing his things into his tiny backpack. The class pushed and shoved to get to the doors, squishing and shoving Ryan and Dias out of the way until they landed on the floor behind the crowd.
“Well, that wasn’t pleasant,” Ryan stated, getting up and brushing himself off. Dias grabbed his crutches from the ground and used them to help himself up. “Oh, yeah, do you need help getting up?” Ryan joked, as Dias got upright. He replied with an eye roll.
“Hey, guys!” Dana greeted, cheerfully. “How was the chatting during class?” she joked. They turned to each other, fit to burst.
“Oh, it was… fun,” Ryan said, giving Dias a look she couldn’t read.
“Yup, totally,” Dias agreed, a grin plastered on his face. “Let me whip my stick out!” They both burst out laughing, doubling over. “Oh, geez…” he said, taking a breath.
“Okay…?” Dana raised a brow. “Whatever guys…”  Andrew muffled a chuckle as he and Roi passed. “Wait, Roi,” Dana called after him. He turned and gave her a look.
“What?”
“When are you going to finish Crescent Fall?” she asked excitedly. He had been typing up a Pokemon fan fiction that everyone was excited to read.
“I don’t know, quit asking! Probably not for a while. I still need to edit and everything.” She made an ‘O’ shape with her mouth, nodding. He looked at his watch. “I have to go now, see you…” He waved and sprinted out the door. No one ran after him, since everyone knew he was probably one of the faster ones in our group.
“I have to go too,” they all said in unison. Laughing, they waved and went their separate ways.
The Next Day… ISM – Math Classroom, October 27, 2:12 PM
The classroom filled with students, most not ready for the class at all. Ryan placed his gray checkered bag down on the table, taking out its contents. At the same time, Eugenie opened the door for Dias, who had about three more months to go until his leg was healed. Marcus, Andrew and Dana all sat in the same spots, like last time, Roi switching with Sophia, who was sitting next to Andrew, for obvious reasons. Ms. Olive walked into the room, her gaze off slightly.
“Dana,” Marcus whispered. She looked up and rolled her eyes, giving him a look. “Pass this to Andrew please… don’t read it!” Dana took it and, with a mischievous grin, opened it, reading the note inside.
I said don’t read it…
“Ugh, seriously?” She threw the paper over to Andrew and went back to studying for the math quiz. She felt a tap, yet again, and turned, closing her eyes and looking up dramatically. “What?” When she looked, she saw that it wasn’t Marcus. Ms. Olive was face to face with her, a hungry look in her eye. “S-Sorry Ms. Olive.” The look of hunger disappeared momentarily, and she went on walking.
“Shit, that was close,” he mumbled. She stared angrily at him, taking a deep breath.
“Your fault. Not mine.” She said, turning back around, and saw the note sitting on her desk. “Seriously?”
You know she’s being tested for rabies and stuff?
Yeah, you told us yesterday, smart one.
Oh, right…
LOL!
Well, now there’s a rumor that it’s positive. (Scary.)
You really believe that crap? It’s not true, dude…
But, what if it is? RABIES APOCALYPSE!
Dude, we’d know if she had rabies… AND, she wouldn’t be in school!
Well, who knows? :P
A knock sounded at the door. Ms. Olive hobbled over, opening it to reveal Zach, Bailey and Claire. “Yes?” she asked in a monotone voice.
“We got transferred to this class,” Zach said, bored out of his mind. Bailey and Claire nodded together. “Wait, you’re Ms. Orange or whatever, right?”
“Ms. Olive.”
“See, I knew it was either a vegetable, or something racist!” he exclaimed. Dana chuckled and shook her head, smiling. That’s so you, Zach…
“An orange is a fruit, Zach,” Andrew corrected, giving him a ‘you-should-know-that’ look, “not a vegetable.”
“Same thing,” he shrugged, indifferent.
“Take a seat wherever you’d like,” she said, her eye twitching every so often.
“Creepy lady,” he said, walking past. Suddenly, she clutched onto his arm, her eyes hungry and burning with killing intent. “What the…” She stared into his eyes, as her eye twitched again and she licked her lips.
Perfect. He ran and went for the meter sticks, throwing one to Andrew, and another to Sophia and Marcus. “Use these as weapons for now, we’ll head for the Aikido Area once this one’s down and grab ourselves better weapons, like a katana and some polearms.”
“Polearms?” Dana asked confused. “And… why didn’t I get a stick?” Dias muffled a laugh. “A meter stick,” she corrected, giving him a look. “We’re in a crisis and he’s laughing at sticks… my god…” She thought for a moment, “Wait, this isn’t a zombie, is it?”
“It’s as close to one as I’ve ever met,” he said, not answering her other questions.
“Wait, I didn’t get a stick either!” Ryan said, grabbing one.
“Ryan,” Dana sighed, facepalming herself. “Fine, I’ll get my own, since you’re oh so nice and won’t give me one,” she grumbled. A screech echoed through the room as Zach shot Ms. Olive several more times.
“Well,” Andrew pointed out, “I think he might’ve had a reason for not giving you weapons.” They put their meter sticks back, and gave Roi and expectant look.
“You guys, with no weapons, will be faster, since you have nothing to carry. You guys have to go ahead of us while we hold the zombies off, and grab all the weapons you can. We’ll follow behind you, and some of us who are willing to fight will try to keep them at bay here and protect this classroom from the zombies,” he explained. “I think Zach has this one covered,” he smiled, seeing as Zach shot the zombie in the head with his BB gun.
“Well, there goes the boring teacher!” Andrew laughed. “Zombie Apocalypse: Challenge Accepted!”
2 minutes later… ISM – Math Classroom, October 27, 2:24 PM
“How are we supposed to kill those things?!” Bailey exclaimed. “We might as well be fighting Jaegers from Pacific Rim! Those things are wa—,” Roi cut him off.
“Would you just call them zombies? Seriously. ‘Those things’ is just way too general. Call them monsters, or something.” Bailey glared at him, clearly annoyed.
“Fine. Those zombies are way stronger than us, especially if they infect the coaches. They’ll kill us!” He threw his hands in the air. “What chance do we have against them?”
“I thought you played games with worse monsters than this, Bailey?” Andrew asked, teasingly. “Just think of them as grunts and use the strength you have obtained so far to kill them!”
“But in this, you only get one chance! I don’t have anyone to help me with the levels. Plus, this is real life.” Andrew shrugged.
“Seems fun to me,” he said. “If you’re going to be a wimp, then just stay behind and die already. Complaining, regretting, those things don’t do shit for you. You just got to take the hand fate deals you and try to get better.” Overhearing this, Bryan, the loudest one in class, stood up on the table and yelled his loudest.
“These zombies are going down!” Everyone cheered and grabbed what weapons they could. The room was chaotic. Everyone was chattering, some in fear, and some in excitement for the days to come.
“Hold it!” Roi tried to yell over the chaos. “Wait!” They couldn’t hear him. “Shut up!” The chatter died down. “Thanks. Now, we need a strategy. We can’t have everybody for themselves here, or else it will be… well, it’ll be this. Chaos.” They looked around and nodded sheepishly. “We need groups of…” he counted off in his head, “five. Well, for now. So we’re even.” He smiled. “Try to be with people you trust. You might need to trust them with your life one day.” The room divided into several groups. “Okay,” Roi said patiently, seeing more zombies standing outside the locked door, “let’s fix this up so the teams are balanced.” He looked at the first group, which was made up of all girls. “Okay, you guys need two boys, at the very least. How about this,” he pointed at Andrew Y. who was in a group of all boys, “Andrew and Kai,” he pointed, “you switch so that the group is Ali, Kayla, Kat and you two.” He gave them a serious look. “Is that alright?” They nodded, but Kayla whined.
“Why Kai?” she said, giving a disgusted look. “Our group was fine before.” Roi sighed, and got off from the table.
“I honestly don’t think that majority of your group even has a tiny chance of surviving this apocalypse, but I’m trying to give you the best chance you will ever get. If you don’t want to die a horrible and painful double death, then let the grudges go and just deal with it.” She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. “Die or work together. Your choice.” She gulped and nodded. “Alright, next group.” He looked the boys over. “Javier, Andres, Edgar, Lisa, and…” he looked around the room, “Bianca.” The boys cheered and welcomed her awkwardly to their group. “Okay,” Roi wiped his brow as he watched more zombies hitting on the glass windows. “Next group,” he saw two groups with all of his friends, “you two groups combine. We’re all in one group, and with how close we are, we can work together to get out of this.” Kayla was going to say something, but he silenced her with a look. “You can combine only if you think you could work well together.”
“We’ll definitely work well together,” Javier said, grinning at them. “But I’m okay with our group alone, too. But with more people, we’d have more talent and knowledge, so I think that’d be better.” Kat and Andrew Y. nodded.
“Combined it is.” Roi turned to his own group and smiled. “Aikido Area, godspeed.”
Ryan and Dana nodded to each other and waited until the others cleared the barricade of zombies before speeding to the Aikido Area. Dana murmured after a while, “This is insane.” They heard screeches from the background, and she made the mistake of turning around.
“Dana, look out!” Ryan warned, but the zombie had already grabbed her wrist, stopping her and causing her to fall to the ground. “Shit,” he cursed, “I’ve got to get the weapons, damn it!”
“Go ahead, I’ve got this son of a bitch,” Dana yelled to him, as he slowed. He tightened his lips to a thin line and nodded.
“I’m sorry,” he said, turning and running again.
“Don’t be, I can handle it!” she yelled after him. The zombie opened its mouth, watering at her arm. “Delicious and moist, ain’t it?” she joked, kicking it in the crotch. The zombie didn’t flinch, and sank its teeth into her skin. She let out an anguished shout, punching the zombie in the face with her free hand, causing it to topple over, dead. “Shit!” she yelled in pain. “I can’t become a zombie. No way in hell!” She looked up and saw she was by the clinic, and she pursed her lips. “I’ve got to stop it from spreading.” She got up, grabbing her arm, which was turning slightly blue, and bashed the door to the clinic open with her shoulder.
“May I help you?” she looked up and saw Dr. Kim, the school clinic doctor, sitting at her office, holding a scalpel in her right hand, scissors on her left. Zombie remains scattered all around her. She eyed Dana closely, and held up her weapons. “Infected?”
“Freshly bitten,” she stated, gritting her teeth. “Anything you can do about it?”
“Where?” she asked, putting her guard down slightly.
“My left arm, it’s turning blue.” Dr. Kim furrowed her brow and delicately lifted the wounded arm. “If you have to cut it off, that’s fine. Just don’t let me turn into one of those things… please…” The pain overwhelmed her, and she collapsed on the ground, a zombie body breaking her fall.
